Enjoy the museum all to yourself!
Private parties happen on weekdays and weekends from 5:30-7:30 pm.
- 2 hours of exclusive playtime
for up to 50 guests (Total, including adults. A minimum of 1 adult for every 5 children required. There is a $20 per person charge for each guest over the 50 guest count.)
- Includes scavenger hunt, photo opportunity and one goody bag for each child in attendance under age 12.
You are welcome to bring snacks and/or sweet treats and non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy in the party room.

How do I reserve a Birthday Party Package?
Book online or call us at (831) 649-6444 to reserve your party package. Payment in full is due at the time of booking.
How far in advance do I need to reserve my Party date?
Reservations are based on a first-come, first-serve basis. We recommend securing your reservation at least 6-8 weeks in advance.
What if I have to cancel my Party?
Parties cancelled within 14 days will not receive a refund. Anyone who is sick or experiencing COVID-like symptoms should not come to the museum. Parties needing cancellation due to illness will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
What should I bring to my Party?
You do not NEED to bring anything except yourselves! If you would like to enjoy a sweet treat in the party room, please bring plates, utensils and paper products.
Do I need to clean up the room at the end of the Party?
Museum staff will take care of the cleanup for you!
Can I decorate the Party room?
The party rooms are festive and do not need additional decorations! Please let us know if you plan to bring additional decorations. Piñatas, Mylar balloons and live animals are strictly prohibited.
Can I arrive early to set up the Party room?
Families may arrive up to 15 minutes prior to the party start time. If you would like to bring additional decorations, please let us know.
Who is counted in the Party guest count?
Due to COVID, private parties can accommodate a maximum of 50 people total, including adults. A minimum of 1 adult for every 5 children supervision is required. There is a $20 per person charge for each guest over the 50 guest count.
Can adult guests come to the party even if they are not accompanied by children?
Adult family members may attend the party. Please note that both adults and children count toward your total party headcount.
Where do I park?
90-minute street parking is available for free. A City of Monterey Parking Garage is located across the street from MYM on Washington Street for $7 all day parking. Minimal 2-hour parking is available in the neighborhood. Please share this information with your guests! Parking limits are actively enforced.

The Wheelie Mobilee, MY Museum’s mobile outreach vehicle, has been wheelin’ throughout Monterey County since 2008 bringing new opportunities for fun and exploration to a variety of venues. The Wheelie is available for private parties, school visits, and public events.
